Midwifery includes care of women during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period, as well as care of the newborn. At Southwest Georgia Obstetrics and Gynecology, our midwives provide their patients with care including preventing health problems during pregnancy, the detection of abnormalities, and the execution of emergency measures in the absence of medical help. In addition, midwifery services also include well-woman care for patients.
Southwest Georgia Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Certified Nurse Midwives work closely with Dr. Paul Payne to ensure our patients happy, healthy results for each childbirth. SWGA OBGYN provides care to childbearing women during pregnancy, labor and birth, and during the postpartum period. In addition, our midwives also provide primary care to women, including annual gynecological exams, family planning, menopausal care and well-woman care related to reproductive health. At SWGA OBGYN, our midwives are also trained to handle more difficult deliveries, including breech births, twin births and births where the baby is in a posterior position, using non-invasive techniques. We recognize the importance of ensuring the midwives work in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period resulting in a process that is as calm and comfortable as possible.
